Legend of the Fall at Webster Hall

Biography

Legend Of The Fall has defined its own genre in a musical landscape dominated by mediocrity and nu-metal clones. In just two years, the band has created an undeniable sound that they have affectionately dubbed “Popcore”.
Hailing from Ridgefield Park, NJ, Legend of the Fall consists of five brothers ranging in age from 15 to 23. After first stepping onto a stage in April of 2007, the brothers JD, Skyler, Levi, Madison and CaseyJones Alam have never looked back. “The adrenaline and roar of the crowd was the most amazing feeling that we’d ever felt. We immediately knew that we had found our calling” states JD.
With influences ranging from Led Zeppelin to Panic At The Disco to All Time Low, Legend Of The Fall makes music that captures the essence of the youth in today’s world. The band credits their father as their biggest influence and the reason they became a band. “Our dad was in a band with his brothers when they were younger” says Madison. “There was only three of them and they were 80's classic rock type stuff. Watching them when we were young, it just felt like that's what we were gonna grow up to do. We didn't really think of making it or not but we just somehow knew that we were destined to grow up to be musicians.”
For the past three years, Legend Of The Fall has built up a loyal fan base by captivating audiences with their explosive live shows. The band has self released 2 CDʼs. The first two are simply titled “Sketches” and “Sketches Part II”. The third CD is a professionally produced EP entitled “Sell Outs.” The CDs showcase the bands ability to write amazing, undeniable, hook-laden songs.
Legend of the Fall has experienced tastes of rock stardom, large and small. They’ve played with artists and bands both classic and contemporary such as, George Thorogood, Vanilla Fudge, Emily Osmont, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and Cash Cash. “We’ve been through so much in the short time that we have been a band” CaseyJones explains. “We’ve seen and done things in the 4 years as a band that some never experience.”
Legend of the Fall gathered much interest from different PR and management firms, but in the end nothing stuck. When asked about why Skyler stated, “We love working with others, but a vision that isn’t consistent can’t come to life. When your goal has a pulling in two opposite directions, it becomes destined to fail. We have always been a band that went big or went home, and we haven’t met a company that felt the same.”
In 2011 the band pulled away from the spotlight for a little while to write a new album. “We are looking forward to what lies ahead” states Levi. “We are really happy with the way the new songs are coming out. It won’t be long before Legend of the Fall takes over your world!”

COLLEGE BATTLE OF THE BANDS

RULES

All rules and prizing are subject to be updated and may change throughout the year. Please check back here periodically.

Eligibility Rules

Process and Judging

Step 1: Sign-up and create an account

Step 2: Create an artist profile and upload your best mp3 and a YouTube video (video optional)

Step 3: Get as many people to play, rate, and like your artist profile as possible

Step 4: Selection: In each Region of the country, artists compete on stage for prizing and advancement. Judge selections, along with the most popular music artist online on the website receive entry to their Regional Battle*

Step 5: Regional Battle winners advance to the National Finale to compete for greater prizing against the best in the country to become the National Champion

Judging Criteria: Judging is based on four criteria: 1) strength of submission (or live show); 2) songwriting originality; 3) overall artist potential; 4) fan voting

Wild Cards: All Artists are encouraged to continue getting site plays, ratings and likes throughout the year, as they count towards general site rankings, and additional Wild Card prizing opportunities. Regional Battles and National Finale may have a Wild Card selection added by the judges. Not every Battle will include a Wild Card selection. Wild Cards are chosen at the judges' discretion in order to balance competition format when spots are available, and to offer additional prizing opportunities to competing artists.

PRIZES

In addition to awesome exposure, winning artists also take home incredible prizes.

Regional Battles:

WINNER

National Finale:

WINNER

Runner-Ups also receive a free semester of textbook rentals from Chegg.com and an AKG wireless vocal system.

*Selection: The cut-off date for contest entry and online votes is one week (7 days) prior to the Regional Battle, unless specially-noted for that individual area. So for example, if your Regional Battle is on a Saturday, the deadline to submit is one Saturday prior, as the clock hits midnight at the end of that night.

For the online metrics, current site 'plays' are weighted heavier, and 'ratings' are used as a secondary metric. All plays and ratings are counted at the submission deadline, unless artists are notified of a voting extension in their region.

All votes are subject to qualification and review, to ensure legitimate voting. We reserve the right to disqualify any band or artist where, in our sole discretion, we believe cheating was involved.

For the judge selections, music industry professionals along with the show producers choose three or more artists to compete in each Regional Battle, for a total of four or more artists competing at each Regional Battle. Selected finalists will be announced at least 3 days prior to the Regional Battle.
