Before there was time, there was a massive pride of primordial walruses which roamed the first ancient universe. They were the guardians of the essence of life which created all life in all universes. But, first... they had to reach the center of all the universes, literally, the very nucleus; it's a very unique universe that has the element Carbon in it; this is the only universe that has a substance so spectacular.
The Primordial Pride of Walruses were sent to the center of all universes by The Grand Creator who gave The Prime Primordial Walrus a package of about medium proportions and instructed him and his Pride to journey to the star at the center of all universes and toss the package into its heart.
So, The Prime Primordial Walrus gathered his Pride and began an adventure across the infinitely vast stretches of deep space. Through years of peril and opposition from horrid and barbaric creatures, extensive time stretching telephonic travels, and some crafty walrus skills The Prime Primordial Walrus finally accomplished the task of tossing The Grand Creator's box of mysterious contents and about medium proportions into the heart of the star at the center of all universes.
There was a great explosion and light beams of all colors, shapes, and sizes erupted from the surface of the majestic star and bloomed out as far as the walrus eye could see. Stunned, The Prime Primordial Walrus knew then that the contents of the package were that of the very essence of life itself, and that a great deed had been done. Little did he know the significance of the actions he undertook, or of the amazing implications of life across all universes that did not derive from the ancient dark forces of the time before universes.
But it was a very bittersweet victory for the Prime Primordial Walrus, for all the rest of The Pride of Primordial Walruses sacrificed their own lives for the cause of The Great Creator and now the Prime Primordial Walrus was the last of his pride... well, not exactly.
The Prime Primordial Walrus is a master in mass-manipulation of moleculaen-bound matter through telekinesis, thus he fused the spirits of the great Primordial Walruses into a form of life based off of the fission of ionized meta-materials.
The Telekinetic Walrus continues to carry The Pride of Ions, in their ionized form, with him to draw from the great power of The Primordial Pride of Walruses, defeating evil in the universe that constantly tries to strike The Great Creator from his reign to unleash their own dark ambitions on the existence of universes.
That's about it, he also likes to record music when he's somewhere there's sufficient enough atmosphere to resonate sound. And when he does resonate sound, he likes to post up the recordings for some very close friends of his and The Great Creator's, as they are creators, too: the humans! So, enjoy the sounds prepared for your palette by Telekinetic Walrus and The Pride of Ions

*Selection: The cut-off date for contest entry and online votes is one weeks (7 days) prior to the Local Battle, unless specially-noted for that individual area. So for example, if your Local Battle is on a Saturday, the deadline to submit is one Saturday prior, as the clock hits midnight at the end of that night. For the online metrics, current site 'plays' are weighted heavier, and 'ratings' are used as a secondary metric. All plays and ratings are counted at the submission deadline, unless artists are notified of a voting extension in their region. All votes are subject to qualification and review, to ensure legitimate voting. For the judge selections, music industry professionals along with the show producers choose two or more artists to compete in each Local Battle, for a total of three (or four) artists competing at each Local Battle. Selected finalists will be announced at least 3 days prior to the Local Battle.
In order to be eligible for the prize, contestants must be either (I) affiliated with SESAC as a songwriter or (ii) eligible for affiliation with SESAC as a songwriter (i.e. not affiliated with ASCAP or BMI) (the "Eligibility Requirement"). In the event any single entry consists of two (2) performers, then at least fifty percent (50%) of the songwriters in such performance group must meet the Eligibility Requirement. In the event any single entry is comprised of three (3) or more performers, then at least fifty one percent (51%) of the songwriters in such performance group must meet the Eligibility Requirement.
