Additionally, each concert will feature a Backstage VIP Meet 'n' Greet for 5 lucky winners in each market, along with photos.
The free concert series was envisioned as a way to create a special event just for college students, and also to promote the yearly battles between the nation's best college musicians as part of College Battle of the Bands. The annual tour kicks off this Winter.
"Chegg wanted to sponsor the Textbooks & Tickets Tour because we loved the concept of giving away free tickets to see college students' favorite music artists," said James Sleeman, Business Development Manager at Chegg. "We want to not only save students money on textbooks and education, but we also understand that students need to have a little fun too and sometimes that can be expensive especially seeing high calibre artists."
Besides the big names like T-Pain, Big Boi, Chiddy Bang, Dev and Big Sean, students will also get a preview of tomorrow's music stars, since many of 2010's College Battle of the Bands winners will be performing in the opening slots. “We are thrilled to showcase last year's winning artists opening up for major headliners in this winter's Textbooks & Tickets concerts," said Evan Shapiro, co-founder of College Battle of the Bands. "For many of these emerging-artists, this is the biggest venue or stage they will have played so far.”
"Seeing students so excited that they get to see their favorite bands totally free has been the most exciting aspect," Sleeman added. "Students don't believe it at first. We have to explain a couple of times over to them that there is no catch -- it's all free. It's very similar to the response we hear from students when we tell them how much money they can save using Chegg."
With the continued support of Chegg, the presenting sponsor, the roster of stars for 2011's free concert series is not to be missed, and the upcoming College Battle of the Bands is also positioned for serious industry impact. Supporting partners for this spring's music competition include AT&T, GRAMMY U, Gibson Guitar, SESAC and the Elfenworks Foundation.
The quickly growing national competition is entering its third year, and has already awarded over $100,000 in prizes to student artists. “I have judged College Battle of the Bands for the past two years, and am always blown away by the level of talent," said Rob Accatino, of GRAMMY U. "This competition is the premier event for any college student or band looking to get exposure on a national level."
College Battle of the Bands is accepting sign-ups for the 2011 contest this Spring, which is ramping up to be bigger than ever. Student bands, singer-songwriters, MCs and musicians of all genres are encouraged to upload a music track and video and enter for a chance to win the national competition. Sign-ups are at the main College Battle of the Bands site: www.CollegeBattleoftheBands.com. The competition is a great way to encourage student spirit and foster the arts at the college level. Also, it's a not-to-be-missed opportunity for student music artists to gain massive industry exposure and huge prizing.

COLLEGE BATTLE OF THE BANDS
All rules and prizing are subject to be updated and may change throughout the year. Please check back here periodically.
Step 1: Sign-up and create an account
Step 2: Create an artist profile and upload your best mp3 and a YouTube video (video optional)
Step 3: Get as many people to play, rate, and like your artist profile as possible
Step 4: Selection: In each Region of the country, artists compete on stage for prizing and advancement. Judge selections, along with the most popular music artist online on the website receive entry to their Regional Battle*
Step 5: Regional Battle winners advance to the National Finale to compete for greater prizing against the best in the country to become the National Champion
Judging Criteria: Judging is based on four criteria: 1) strength of submission (or live show); 2) songwriting originality; 3) overall artist potential; 4) fan voting
Wild Cards: All Artists are encouraged to continue getting site plays, ratings and likes throughout the year, as they count towards general site rankings, and additional Wild Card prizing opportunities. Regional Battles and National Finale may have a Wild Card selection added by the judges. Not every Battle will include a Wild Card selection. Wild Cards are chosen at the judges' discretion in order to balance competition format when spots are available, and to offer additional prizing opportunities to competing artists.
In addition to awesome exposure, winning artists also take home incredible prizes.

Runner-Ups also receive a free semester of textbook rentals from Chegg.com and an AKG wireless vocal system.
*Selection: The cut-off date for contest entry and online votes is one week (7 days) prior to the Regional Battle, unless specially-noted for that individual area. So for example, if your Regional Battle is on a Saturday, the deadline to submit is one Saturday prior, as the clock hits midnight at the end of that night.
For the online metrics, current site 'plays' are weighted heavier, and 'ratings' are used as a secondary metric. All plays and ratings are counted at the submission deadline, unless artists are notified of a voting extension in their region.
All votes are subject to qualification and review, to ensure legitimate voting. We reserve the right to disqualify any band or artist where, in our sole discretion, we believe cheating was involved.
For the judge selections, music industry professionals along with the show producers choose three or more artists to compete in each Regional Battle, for a total of four or more artists competing at each Regional Battle. Selected finalists will be announced at least 3 days prior to the Regional Battle.
**SESAC CASH PRIZING: In order to be eligible for the prize, contestants must be either (i) affiliated with SESAC as a songwriter or (ii) eligible for affiliation with SESAC as a songwriter (i.e. not affiliated with ASCAP or BMI) (the "Eligibility Requirement"). In the event any single entry consists of two (2) performers, then at least fifty percent (50%) of the songwriters in such performance group must meet the Eligibility Requirement. In the event any single entry is comprised of three (3) or more performers, then at least fifty one percent (51%) of the songwriters in such performance group must meet the Eligibility Requirement.
