Biography

The Constant is an indie rock band from New York City, lead by singer/guitarist Steven Baggs, who's a voice right out of the late 90's with his pain vocals and rocking tight sound. More precisely, he sounds like Eagle Eye Cherry and has the growl of Dave Grohl, but don't hold it against him. Assorted synthesizers ground the band in 2011, but that 90's sound is surely unmistakable.

Baggs, a self taught guitarist and vocalist, was born and raised in New York City. He first landed major exposure and made his presence known in March of 2004, when one of his songs was entered into the nationwide Clear Channel Radio - Be A Radio Star contest. Out of over 250,000 entries, his song was voted into the Top 7 by fans all over the country and won him a Major Label Demo Deal.

As a result of the nationwide publicity, he began building a strong following and buzz in the New York scene, it was In Spring of 2007, The Constant entered NADA Recording Studio to begin recording 'The Constant EP'. In November of 2008, they continued recording tracks for the EP at The Pilot Studio. The songs, co-produced by Baggs, are packed with upbeat power anthems influenced by the writing of late 90's and whose sound has been called a mix of melodious pop and organic rock.

The Constant released their latest EP, Let's Go Analog, in April of 2011. Each song is filled with sharpened hooks toughened by innovative guitar riffs and harmonious vocals that will settle into your head and stay there. With Let's Go Analog the band looks to further solidify themselves as a real rock act, writing, playing and producing their own music. The Constant is ready to hit the road and showcase their music to the world.

*Selection: The cut-off date for contest entry and online votes is one weeks (7 days) prior to the Local Battle, unless specially-noted for that individual area. So for example, if your Local Battle is on a Saturday, the deadline to submit is one Saturday prior, as the clock hits midnight at the end of that night. For the online metrics, current site 'plays' are weighted heavier, and 'ratings' are used as a secondary metric. All plays and ratings are counted at the submission deadline, unless artists are notified of a voting extension in their region. All votes are subject to qualification and review, to ensure legitimate voting. For the judge selections, music industry professionals along with the show producers choose two or more artists to compete in each Local Battle, for a total of three (or four) artists competing at each Local Battle. Selected finalists will be announced at least 3 days prior to the Local Battle.
